Austin-March 17th

Whoooooooooooooo! Saint Patrick’s day! Oh wait, it’s also the start of SXSW and Christ can you kids party.  The day started out with the bip-bang-boom at the Giant Steps/Karmaloop day party at BB.  All i have to say is CUBIC ZIRCONIA, amazing live, do yourself a favor and check them out!  They totally destroyed the backstage with some Brazillian tribal beats mixed withdirty electro-rhymes.  Kid Sister and Dam Funk and Grives with Budo brought the heat inside. The night started off with Music Hall of fame Rock-a-billy Singer Wanda Jackson @ the Palm Door, she’s 72 and still rockin’ live shows!  Sweet lady too!   Munch Munch and Diamond Rings closed last night out at BB.  Tonight we have the ROLLING STONE official sxsw showcase at Palm Door with The WHIGS/DEERTICK and more and Frankie Chan’s IHEARTCOMIX SHOWCASEn at BB, with Toxic Avenger, Shout out out out and The Very Best will be on hand tonight to bump the house. So if you have a wrist band, a badge or some cold hard cash be there, or don’t, your loss.

Chicago – March 12th

The Beauty Bar and Empty Bottle Presents are excited and proud to announce the public opening of Chicago’s Beauty Bar on March 25, 26 and 27 at 1444 W Chicago Ave.  An idea that began more than two years ago over drinks between Beauty Bar’s founder Paul Devitt and Chicago partners Bruce Finkelman and Peter Creig Toalson, the men behind Empty Bottle Presents, has now been fully realized.   Nightly entertainment featuring DJs, residencies, film screenings and after parties, Beauty Bar offers a totally unique environment for an unpretentious good night out.

Opening night Thursday, March 25 will feature Baio, one fourth of Vampire Weekend DJing after their SOLD OUT performance at the Riviera Theater, with local favorite Kid Color.  Friday, March 26th will see the return of the hugely popular Spandexxx night presented by Moneypenny & UR Chicago featuring DJ Sadie Woods of White Label.  Saturday night the weekend dance party continues with DJ Chuck Inglish, one half of Cake Recording artists Cool Kids.  A $5 bill is all you need to get in each night after 9pm and $10 will get you a Martini and a Manicure, ladies.

CHICAGO WELCOMES BEAUTY BAR!

Chicago- March 9
All the pieces are falling into place for this months opening of the long awaited Beauty Bar Chicago. Head honcho Paul Devitt salvaged a complete c.1965 salon interior (Paris Salon of Beauty) in Springfield NJ and personally trucked it out to the windy city last month. Meanwhile our good buddy and partner Robert McAdams (designer builder of among others Longman & Eagle, and The Publican) and Mode Carpentry are working around the clock transforming the old space (1444 W Chicago) into a new space befitting the Beauty Bar moniker. Stay tuned later this week when we announce our amazing opening weekend lineup, March 25,26 and 27.
